Veterinarians

Derine Winning, DVM

Dr. Winning graduated from Colorado State University in 1997. She practiced in Montana for over six years before coming back to her home state of North Dakota in 2003. She joined Valley Veterinary Hospital in 2006 and became a partner in the clinic later that year. Since then she continues to enjoy practicing small animal and exotic medicine, performing surgery and is certified in veterinary acupuncture at Valley Veterinary Hospital. As time has progressed, Dr. Winning has established many cherished relationships with clients and their pets and enjoys "catching up" with them on their visits.

Dr. Winning's family includes two standard Dachshunds, Doobie and Dahlia. Dr. Winning is considered starting a support group for those, like her, who are Dachshund addicts. Other than spending time with her dogs, she enjoys cooking, gardening, running, and just spending time in the country.


Kristine Haroldson, DVM

Dr. Haroldson was raised on a farm outside of Tappen, ND.  She graduated from NDSU in 2007 and worked as a veterinary assistant in Bismarck until 2011.  She then attended Kansas State College of Veterinary Medicine, where she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2015.  Dr. Haroldson had been practicing at a mixed animal practice in ND after graduation until she joined Valley Vet in July 2016.  She enjoys working with all species but has a special interest in exotic and zoo animals.  Dr. Haroldson, her husband Chris and her son TJ share their home in Fargo with their yellow lab, 3 cats and a crested gecko.  In her free time, Dr. Haroldson enjoys playing with baby TJ, reading mystery novels, spending time at the lake with family and walking or playing fetch with Daisy.


Eric Kaufman, DVM

Dr. Kaufman grew up in Casselton, ND.  He attended NDSU with a focus on biochemistry, biophysics and microbiology.  He attended veterinary school at Iowa State University and graduated in 2004.  After graduation he practiced in central Minnesota, later moving to northern Minnesota.  In 2012 he moved back to Fargo where he performed veterinary relief services for local clinics.  He began working as an emergency veterinarian in Fargo in 2013 before coming to Valley Veterinary Hospital in 2018.  Emergent/critical care, ophthalmology, anaphylaxis and soft tissue/orthopedic surgery are his special interests.  He specializes in cuddling kittens and puppies.

 Dr. Kaufman enjoys time with his family, recreational/competitive cycling, triathlon, books and video gaming.  His wife, Arelle, is an avid crafter and fitness coach.  His son, Archer, is a pirate and his daughter, Emberleigh, is a general contractor and ballerina.  His family rents a  home from 3 cats (Zephyr, Powder and Sunna) and 1 dog (Ecco).


Brandi Herauf, DVM

Dr. Herauf was born and raised in Dickinson, ND. She earned a degree in pre-professional biology from Dickinson State University. She then went on to attend Oregon State University- Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2018.  She is interested in dentistry and surgery, but hopes to add to the list as time goes on.
In her spare time, Dr. Herauf enjoys spending time with her cat (Lola), gardening, cooking, sewing and giving back to the community.

Haylee H.

Haylee is from Rosemount, MN and moved to Fargo to attend NDSU in 2004. After graduating NDSU in 2008 with degrees in Animal Science and Equine Science she moved to Missouri to pursue a job in equine reproduction. She returned to Fargo in September 2010, and joined the Valley Veterinary team shortly after. Haylee has an adorable, spoiled little chihuahua named Daisy. Outside of work Haylee enjoys being with friends and family, traveling, and working with horses.

Erin D, Lead LVT

Erin is originally from Little Falls, MN.  She graduated from NDSU in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Veterinary Technology.  Soon after, she and her husband Kevin packed up and moved to Tucson, AZ where she completed her internship.  She then worked in a one doctor practice for two years before moving back to Fargo.  Erin joined Valley Veterinary Hospital in 2010 with a special interest in surgery and advanced dentistry.  In her free time, she enjoys reading, hanging out with friends, and spending time with Kevin and their three children, Embry, Gabby, and Kase.  The family shares a home in Horace with two rambunctious rescue cats, Turby and Ryker.   



Emily M, LVT

Emily is originally from Glyndon, MN. She graduated from the Minnesota School of Business with a degree in Veterinary Technology in December, 2012. She and her husband Josh own two boxers, Bella and Mikko. They also have 2 rabbits named Bun and Jinx that have the run of the house. Emily enjoys reading, spending time with family, as well as hunting, fishing, and camping with Jo
sh. 


Lindsay G, LVT 

Lindsay was born and raised in Fargo, ND and graduated in March 2011 from Globe University/Minnesota School of Business with an Applied Science Degree in Veterinary Technology. She began working at Valley Veterinary Hospital in January 2013 as a veterinary assistant and has a special interest in animal behavior. In her spare time she enjoys spending time at the lake with friends and family, crafts and reading, and hanging out with her two crazy cats, Lilou and Pounce.



Caitlin O, LVT

Caitlin was born just outside of Fargo, ND. She earned her veterinary technology degree from Ridgewater College in 2012 and has been part of the Valley Veterinary team since 2013. She enjoys the many roles a technician plays throughout the day at the clinic and is most intrigued by animal behavior and training. She lives just outside of Fargo with her husband and their 2 dogs; a lab mix named Ruby and a beagle named Frankie. She enjoys traveling, fishing, hiking, kayaking, camping, bow hunting, woodworking and teaching Frankie useless but fun tricks.


                 
Sheena B, LVT

Sheena grew up in Kindred, ND and graduated from NDSU in May 2009 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Microbiology and Veterinary Technology. Shortly after graduation, she worked at a small animal clinic in Mankato, MN for two years. She then moved to Milwaukee, WI to pursue her interests as a Surgery Technician at an Emergency and Referral Center for five years. Sheena finally moved back to Fargo with her family and has worked at Valley Vet in June 2016. Sheena enjoys spending time with her husband, Zack, and two boys, Isaac and Ethan, going hiking, and crocheting. They have one cat (Samwise Gamgee), a crested gecko (Tyler), and several snakes.

Melody B, LVT

Melody was born and raised in Fargo and graduated from NDSU with a bachelor of science degree in veterinary technology in May, 2011.  She has a special interest in animal behavior, dentistry and nutrition. She currently lives in Wolverton with her husband, son and daughter. She has a standard poodle named Apollo, a pit bull named Kane, and a couple cats. She enjoys being with her family, being outdoors, reading, crafts, and anything animal related. 




Lauren E, LVT

Lauren grew up and lives in Fargo, ND. She graduated from NDSU with a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology in May 2016. Lauren joined our team in September 2017. Lauren loves learning new things about her job everyday. She has 3 cats; Dallas, Nibble & Luna. She has a crazy Border Collie named Harley. Lauren enjoys outdoor activities, going to the lake whenever possible & anything to do with animals.

Amber L. - Veterinary Assistant

Amber is originally from Mandan, ND, She moved to West Fargo in 2003. Amber graduated from NDSU in 2014 with a degree in Zoology.  She is currently pursuing a degree in Veterinary Technology from San Juan College.  Amber joined our team in February of 2015. When not working, she enjoys exploring the outdoors, watching movies, trying new restaurants, 
and reading. Above all, she loves spending time with her 1 year old Aussie/Lab mix, Eleanor, and her two cats, Marvin and Mabel.




April G.- Veterinary Assistant

April was raised in Vita, Manitoba and lived on a small hobby farm. She attended a year at NDSU and then transferred to Globe University and graduated as a Veterinary Technician in December 2016.  April is interested in both large and small animals, but wants to get stronger in exotics. April adopted her cat Zoey while at Globe University and recently got a little Yorkie puppy named Kimber. April loves being with family and spending time with her crazy fur babies. 





Jaime K. - Veterinary Assistant

Jaime grew up in Centerville, MN and moved to Moorhead, MN in the fall of 2012. She is attending MSUM studying Evolutionary and Ecological Biology/Pre-vet and is the president of the Wildlife Society on campus. When not working or in school, Jaime enjoys reading, hunting and fishing, being with friends and family, listening to a variety of music, and spending time with
 her newly adopted 2 and 1/2 year old domestic long hair feline friend, Ingrid. 



Hayley R. - Veterinary Assistant

Hayley was born and raised in North Dakota.  She moved to Fargo in September of 2017.  She has 2 cats at home named Otto and Tiger.  In her spare time, she enjoys watching movies, listening to music, being with family & friends, and reading.

Samantha H. - Administrative Assistant

Samantha was born and raised in Moorhead, MN. She joined the Valley Vet team in September of 2014. Samantha enjoys reading, cooking, crafting, bear hunting, spending time with family and friends, and hiking with her blue healer Archer. Samantha also shares her home with her cat Jasmine.





Katie K. - Administrative Assistant

Katie grew up in Columbus, GA. Before moving to Fargo in January of 2018, she also briefly lived in Tennessee and Montana. She loves to adventure and travel with her fiance, young daughter, and 9 year old lab named Bud. In her spare time she enjoys watching the Atlanta Braves, listening to classic rock, and exploring the world on Google Maps.
